I'm Flattered By Your Fascination With Me

For Day 15 of Sara's Challenge, she asks:

"Some songs bring us back to a moment. Share with us a song and the moment it reminds you of."

I was working on this post yesterday. I had gotten out my iPod and was scanning through my songs trying to find just one worthy of mention. Every song I have has some sort of meaning to me and will take me to moment (or two).

As a matter of fact, a few months ago, I was working on a short story where the main character was reminded of a conversation and its true intentions after the fact because of a song.

Anyway, I have quite a bit of music on my iPod. And I was generally having a good time. I was going through Alanis Morissette and remembered her song, "Uninvited," just out of the blue. It's not even on my iPod.

The first time I heard this song was in Florida in 1998. We had just left to come home and stopped at a gas station to fill up. I was all pouty and whiny because I wasn't ready to come home. And then this song came on.

It was a little "Ironic" to say the least.

Now, I realize that my moment for "Uninvited" isn't that all that special. So, in the back of my mind whilst Big Daddy and I are running errands, I am running through songs in my head trying to come up with something really spectacular.

Like something you'd read in those good blogs.

So, we were in the freezer section at the grocery store. I am debating on which vegetables I could trick lovingly ask the kids to eat when I focused in on the song that was playing.

It was "Uninvited."

I haven't heard that song played on the radio or elsewhere in YEARS.

Clearly, she wanted to be included.

The Entry That Would Never Win An Award

A few pieces of business:

  • I started a blog entry yesterday only to stop after a few sentences. Words would not come to me yesterday. Not even for the Challenge.
  • Jo has GREATLY increased her odds of winning the giveaway. She has four out of the current eleven entries. You are able to enter daily.
  • If it wasn't for the Challenge, I don't know what I'd write about. Nothing ever seems to happen around here anymore.
Having said that, it's time to get a move on little doggy:

Day 4: What would your "perfect" Saturday look like?"

If I was being perfectly honest, my perfect Saturday would look like:

However, since I have about as much chance of spending the weekend at the beach as winning the lottery, I'm going to have be a bit more realistic.

Perfect Saturdays include Big Daddy being off of work. We get up, have breakfast and coffee, and then go about doing whatever needs to be done. We may leave; we may not. It doesn't matter. As long as everyone is happy it's a good day.

Big Daddy is off this Saturday. It's supposed to be nice. Darrin needs more leaves for his project, so I imagine we'll get out a bit. With any luck, it will be a perfect Saturday.

Dear Gulf Shores,

I miss you.

It has been two years to the week since we were last together. To say I haven't thought of you would be a lie. I think of you often and lovingly.

I want nothing more than for you to wrap your warmth around me as your gentle waves lull me into a place that only you and I know.

Oh, how I long for that salty smell of you and the feel of your breath on my skin as you run your fingers through my hair.

To see you with others puts an ache in my heart. We agreed it would be better this way. But the bottom line, Gulf; I can't quit you.

They have kept us apart for now, but soon, we'll meet again.

Faithfully(but broke),
Heather

P.S. Hopefully when I come back, I'll either have a new camera, or the timestamp set properly.
