Social, I Can Be
I won't say I was desperate for a post this evening, nor would I say I have been afflicted with "writer's block," but there is the remote possibility that I was searching for divine inspiration from somewhere. For anything interesting and preferably humorous this evening.
'Cause, let me tell you, nothing blog-worthy happened today. Unless you think buying a weedwacker at Home Depot is funny. Plus I had a coupon!
As I am trying to get caught up with new followers ::waves to the ladies in the front row:: I came across this gem:

::Angels sing::
So, as far as this parade goes:
A)Welcome new guests! Please, feel free to help your self to a cold beverage.
B) For those of you that know me, aren't you glad I am not whining about writing?
C)Let's introduce ourselves and make our way through the crowd.
I'll start:

So, as far as this parade goes:
A)Welcome new guests! Please, feel free to help your self to a cold beverage.
B) For those of you that know me, aren't you glad I am not whining about writing?
C)Let's introduce ourselves and make our way through the crowd.
I'll start:
- I have been married to eleven years to Big Daddy (or BD). He is absolutely my other half.
- We have three kids; Jessica (17), Nicholas (11) , and Darrin (10).
- I am half way through getting my Elementary Education degree (Dream number 1)
- I am writing a book among other small writing projects. (Dream number 2)
- We have two dogs; Brownie and Charlie, and a cat; Monroe.
- I am pretty sure the punctuation in the previous sentence is wrong.
- Big Daddy calls me "Grammar Police."
- Last summer, after a post involving some gross grammar error I spotted around town, someone pointed out that "grammar" was misspelled on my sidebar.
- I am OCD about ...a lot of things. One thing is numbers. I like things even.
- My husband says that makes me odd.
- I am a voracious reader. For example, I have read two books in the last 36 hours.
- One was The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby (recommended by both my boys)
- The other was Things Change by Patrick Jones.
- If you have teenagers, encourage them to read this book. And read it yourselves. It was eye-opening to say the least.
- I will update my 2010 reading sidebar soon. I am reading faster than I can get them posted.
- I tend to procrastinate. (See above)
The rest, I guess as they say, is history. Or the future. Depends on what I am posting about. I love to meet new people, and I can't wait to see what you have to say.
Again, thank you for stopping by my little corner of the world. Hope to see you again soon!

When life hands you lemons, make it a blog post
Last summer, at my other place, I created a little meme called "Ticked off Tuesday." For some, it was a big hit. I watched it spread to people that didn't know my blog existed because I am/was private. Basically, it was just the little nuances that bug you at the time it happens, but not often enough to be called a pet peeve.
After about five weeks, I pulled it. I suddenly saw myself immersed in a world of negativity by looking for things to write about on Tuesdays. A couple of my friends admitted at the end that they wouldn't/didn't participate because they avoided negativity.
Today, I am feeling sort of blah. I am not sure if it's because of that sweet baby, the fact that nine weeks of school is over already, just tired from being up last night or what, but there are some things that just plain bugged me today. This afternoon, I decided to have a special fall edition of Ticked off Tuesday, which obviously has moved to a better time slot of Thursday. It's like the Vice-Presidential debates, except entertaining and honest.
Here it is...
**The motorcycle [driver] that followed WAY too close coming into the college this morning. Between all the speed bumps and stop signs, I honestly thought he was going to hit the car. Then he parked in the faculty lot.
**The geography instructor asked a student if she was going to, "da Sweeden." because she had her hair in two braids and pulled forward. She didn't really say anything so he says, "What's the matter? You [sic] having a bad day?" I just thought it was tacky. (His comment, not her hair. I actually thought it was cute.)
**I arrive in my Educational Psychology class. The assignment that I thought was due by 11 tonight, was due by 11 last night. I had two more examples to type up and had planned on doing it after class today while another girl and I worked on a couple of things. Anyway, he accepted a hard copy. Blech.
**I went to talk to the Media Writing professor and explain why I dropped the class. She gave me back the project I turned in last week with a 92 written on it. I got the highest grade in the class and here I thought I wasn't getting it.
**The girl that sits next to me in History chomps on her gum. Loudly.Every.Single.Day. Sounds like cattle grazing.
**Fall break started at the end of school today for students. Since Big Daddy is working, and the kids have no homework (for two whole weeks! EEEeee!) I was going to knock out some projects. Then, the phone rang. Pfft...You know how plans go.
** The lady that parked in the handicapped parking just to return her RedBox DVD.
** The girl that asked me what I would like to order at McDonald's as I was walking in the door. Literally.
To counter the negative effects, here is a short list of things that were good about today:
*The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky, temps were perfect. It just smelled like fall.
*My education instructor accepted my assignment.
*The Media Writing prof asked me to be a student editor for the publication the school puts out. She also has requested my manuscript (ahem, as soon as I finish it) because she may know the right people to have a look. (Emphasis is hers. Did I mention she is a published writer?)
*I got to have dinner alone with my youngest. A rare treat.
*The middle child was invited to play at a friend's house (thus adjusting my plans), but I know how important these years are socially.
*Knowing that I will write this post, and someone will read it.
(and hopefully comment)

Probably more than you wanted to know
During the pre-op phone interview last night, I was told that I needed to come into the hospital to have some blood drawn; go to the ground floor, the lab is on the left.
This morning I get to the Lab. The lady sitting at the desk couldn't have been more cold to me. And I am pretty sure that she was playing solitaire--not looking up my order. She makes a call, rolls her eyes a few times and tells me that I need to go back upstairs to Day Surgery.
At Day Surgery, she informs me that I was in fact, in the correct location downstairs. She calls someone, some harsh, but yet hushed, words were spoken. I am told to wait--someone will take me where I need to go.
While I am sitting, a very nice lady asks me to watch her bags. As soon as she turns the corner, I am called back.
The new nurse gives me some directions for tonight, answers some questions, and tells me to go down to the ground floor to the lab. If I have any problem, let them know Veronica sent me. She says this very authoritative- like.
In the lab (again), they get very testy. There must be a tiff between floors. No one has heard of Veronica. (Of course, I made it all up!) I got my one, lowly tube of blood taken and scored two coupons for free lunch.

At the mall:
A lady at a nail (?) kiosk wants to show me something AMAZING. She proceeds to buff one nail until it is shiny. The amazing kit will cost me $49.99. No thank-you. Ok, I will let you buy-one get-one. No, really. Thank-you. Ok, because I am the "manny-jer", I can offer one for half price. Seriously. No. I can't. Okthankyouhaveaniceday.
My nail feels weird now...
A guy at the T-Mobil kiosk wants to know what cell phone service I have. He then wants to know how much I pay. After I convince him that he can't beat my deal, he is shocked. Impressed even. Then he says, "Well, I probably can't save you any money, but I can satisfy you." (!!)
He was cute though.
Everywhere I went, people would look at me, then up and down. I am not sure what that was about.
I pass the T-Mobile kiosk again. Trying to walk quickly, and make eye contact with no one, ANOTHER guy wants to give me something. I say, "No thanks. I already talked to that guy," pointing to Mr. Satisfaction. He asked, "What did he say?" I laugh and say, "That he could satisfy me."
The lady walking behind me busted out laughing, and I kept walking.
-------------------
When I got home, there was a message from the hospital, asking me to call them back; she had some information about the insurance. She called me back (she was out when I called) and informed me that the insurance would cover the facility at 80%, and I would be responsible for the 20% which will come to, $381.70. The reason for her telling me this?
It needs to be paid tomorrow.

The CD player in my car has decided to quit working. This makes me oh-so-sad.
In other exciting news:
Jenna tagged me to tell 7 things about myself. I love these things....
1. Somewhere around 6 years ago, I worked for Olan Mills. A picture I submitted for recognition won and was one picked to be hung at the home office in Chattanooga. A district manager from Atlanta told me she saw it, and it was hanging next to the president's office. (I'll have to upload a picture soon.)
2. An essay I wrote was selected for publication in our school's literary magazine. It is about autism taken from the view point of a 5 year old.
3. I can (and have) driven myself to the mall, grocery store, whatever, but have never "traveled" by myself.
4. Skittles ( my favorite candy!) has to be grouped by color, then eaten in this order: purple, green, yellow, orange, red. Always.
5. For Valentine's Day this year, my husband surprised me with tickets to see Ralphie May. He met with people after the show. I asked him to sign my ticket. He did, gave me a hug, and said, "Thanks, Beautiful."
6. I have to buy things in even numbers. If it is a big item (e.g. cat food, cat litter, laundry soap) I am ok. But can goods, loaves of bread, yogurt has to be in multiples. Ironically, I have an odd sense of even (hee hee that cracked me up). At the gas pump, I always stop the change portion on a 0 0r 5. So, for example, if the pump clicks off at $51.33, I will make it end on $51.35. Can't get more odd than that, but to me it is even. Don't judge.
7. The bed gets made everyday. I cannot sleep well if it hasn't. If for some reason, I didn't get it made, I will straighten and re-tuck everything as if I am making it, before I go to bed.

Just a note: I am having my gallbladder out on Friday (8/15), so it may be a few days before I post again. Have a great weekend!
